Kennett Consolidated Is Building Two New Schools This Summer
By Real of Pennsylvania | Exton | — Week of Apr 22, 2026
Most people in the Kennett Consolidated School District know new schools are coming. Fewer have thought through what that could mean for home values, buyer behavior, and school assignment across the district.
Two brand new elementary schools are set to open in Kennett Consolidated this August, replacing both Greenwood and New Garden Elementary Schools ahead of the 2026–27 academic year. But for homeowners, buyers, and sellers, the more important issue may be what happens next.
New school buildings often lead to new attendance boundaries. In this case, that possibility matters because enrollment across the district has not been growing evenly. Housing development in and around Kennett Township and New Garden Township has been pulling student populations in different directions, which increases the pressure to rebalance where students go.
In real estate, school assignment is not a small detail. Buyers regularly research which elementary school a home feeds into before they make an offer. They compare school reputations, test scores, and expected assignment patterns, then price homes accordingly. In the Kennett market, that behavior is already built into buyer expectations.
That is why a boundary shift can have pricing consequences. If a future attendance map changes which homes feed into which elementary school, some addresses may become more attractive while others may lose part of the premium buyers had assumed. A buyer relying on outdated mapping could overpay. A seller unaware of a favorable shift could underprice.
The district has not yet finalized the new attendance boundaries. Anyone buying or selling within Kennett Square, Kennett Township, New Garden Township, or East Marlborough Township should be paying close attention to the district’s boundary process, school board agendas, and official assignment updates.
Do not assume that the school assignment tied to an address today will remain exactly the same once the new elementary schools open.
Let’s move Pennsylvania forward.
